Problem removing Feedflare ads after merge with Google

Taking a break from the usual posting of cartoons, disneyland and video games, I’ve run into a bit of a dilemma with this blog. As I’m not having much luck exploring the more official channels I thought I’d attempt one last cry for help using the very medium that causes me so many sleepless nights!

Ok, perhaps a little over the top but my problem is this:

I can’t get rid of those ads!

I’ve been using Feedburner’s FeedFlare to add some useful links to the bottom of each blog post but something appears to have gone wrong when I merged my Feedburner account with my Google (and, consequently, Google Adsense) account. The ad doesn’t seem to be connected to my Google Adsense account and there’s no way to change it from within my Feedburner account.

Also, because Feedburner support seems to have disappeared when Google ate them up, I’m unable to get any support! I’ve tried the forums and tried emailing them direct but have no confidence that I’m ever going to get this resolved. That leaves me with a couple of options:

Hope that Google one day respond to one of my support requests (very unlikely!), that, miraculously, someone from Google read this and responds or that someone who reads this knows someone from Google that can help.
I ditch FeedFlare completely and find an alternative.
I create an entirely new Feedburner account and start from scratch.

Anyone got any suggestions? Do get in touch, either by email or by leaving a comment below.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Update: Google dropped me an email last night with a request for further information. Hopefully on the road to getting this fixed!

Update 2: No further contact from Google yet so I’ve removed FeedFlare and rolled my own “share” links.

Update 3: Fixed! They’re back. They really should update “del.icio.us” to “delicious” though…

It’s a boy!

In what may be considered by some to be an incredibly extreme attempt to copy Boing Boing, I have the utmost pleasure in announcing the birth of Milo Jefferson May. He arrived after an extended labour (that I will not go into detail of for fear of digging up already buried memories of a delivery bed that transformed into what can only be described as a futuristic torture device, ventouse caps and blood, lots of blood) at 1:59pm today, weighing in at 7lb 14oz.

Both Cassie and Milo are now doing well.

I’m off to bed to enjoy my last uninterrupted nights sleep… ever!

Hello. You may have noticed that things have been rather slow around here. It’s not the only thing I’ve neglected either — my World of Warcraft account has lapsed, Bioshock hasn’t been played beyond level 2 and hundreds of emails remain unopened. I’ve been meaning to offer an explanation, but I haven’t had the chance to get around to that either!

Firstly, I’ve discovered that I’m going to be a father and, just a few weeks later, discovered that it’s going to be a boy! (I’m a growned up?!) This lead me to make a few bold moves and quit the freelance circuit to take a new role at Nixon McInnes where I’d already been freelancing for a couple of months working on More Than’s rather experimental (for an insurance company) Living project.

Since joining the rather superb team full-time I’ve been busy working with Josh on NM’s pretty awesome re-brand, ~~mincing about~~ networking at dConstruct in a pretty awesome t-shirt, and getting stuck into some rather interesting social media projects.

It’s all rather flipping exciting!

Anyway, because I’ve been so busy, I do apologise if you’ve sent me an email and I haven’t replied! Hopefully I’ll get around to replying eventually — if I haven’t, please give me a prod.

I’ve also got a redesign for Antikewl Daily in the pipeline though, being a designer, I’m still fiddle-arseing around with the details… hopefully not perpetually. One of the biggest changes will be moving the asides to be delivered through del.icio.us. Look over to the left (at the moment, though if you’re viewing this article on the (currently unreleased) new layout it’d probably be on the right — unless I changed my mind) to see where they’ve got to.

I’m really keen not to fall out of the routine of updating this blog, so please (again) prod me if I don’t! As ever, I have a load of stuff that I want to blog about, but never have the time to do it.

So, anyway, wish me luck!

Antikewl Daily downtime

Apologies if you tried to dropped by to read the wonderful postings earlier. Antikewl Daily’s web host, Dreamhost, were performing a routine server transfer… but cocked it up. This site, and many others, didn’t come back online until a short while ago.

I still can’t access my email.

If anyone has a suggestion for a good, reliable, inexpensive web host, please let me know!

A few changes have been made around these parts. Firstly, I finally got around to setting up the site so that antikewl.com *is* Antikewl Daily. No more silly redirect. If you ever want to link to us, feel free to use that URL!

Secondly, I’ve changed the old Antikewl Daily RSS feed to a single web feed through Feedburner. The old ones should re-direct, but if you want to update your feed reader the new URL is feeds.antikewl.com/antikewl.

I thought I’d drop Disney a line to find out what happened to the Walt Disney Legacy Collection DVD set and, more specifically, the Destino DVD. Sadly, I still don’t know much more:

“At this time, we do not have a DVD release date for DESTINO. We will forward your request for release to our Marketing Department for consideration. No additional LEGACY COLLECTION releases have been announced.”

Did I dream the Destino DVD box mock-up that was, until recently, displayed on the Legacy site?

Mass Tram America: Here’s a rather interesting concept for a monorail built entirely from decommissioned, de-winged Boeing plane fuselages. Powered by renewable energy sources the tram can theoretically travel from 100-200mph. (via Danny’s Land)

I’d also love to see these driverless electric and biofuel hybrid buses too. They work by following magnets on the floor, satellite navigation and with onboard sensors. Is the future finally here?!

Today marks the 300th anniversary of the 1707 Acts of Union, where Scotland joined England to form The Kingdom of Great Britain. In a true British style we’re celebrating by mostly ignoring it… and releasing a special two pound coin. Happy Birthday Britain!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for reading over the past couple of months. This is the first time I’ve really taken this blog seriously and, hopefully, it’s an improvement over the ones I’ve done in the years past. I hope you’re enjoying reading as much as I’m enjoying writing.

Finally, posts may be a little patchy over the next couple of days while I roll around the floor, filled with food, but Antikewl Daily will be back to normal after the holiday break.
